WordPress Plugin Vulnerabilities

Image Hover Effects Css3 <= 4.5 - Admin+ Stored XSS

Description

The plugin does not sanitise and escape some of its settings, which could allow high privilege users such as admin to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered_html capability is disallowed (for example in multisite setup).

Proof of Concept

1. Go to Hover Effects » Hover Effects » Add New Hover Effect.
2. Enter the payload: <img src onerror=alert(/TESTXSS/)>, then copy the shortcode and create a new page with the shortcode.
3. Go to the page where you saved the shortcode, XSS popup.
